Olivia at 25 Months: Week 109

This week, Olivia:

  • Had an awesome belated birthday play date with her bestie, Olive, at the Santa Monica Pier! The girls had so much fun riding the Merry-Go-Round (although once it started moving O wanted to get off her horse b/c it was going too fast), doing yoga on the grass, swinging on the beach (well, Olive did – Olivia said wanted to get out after just a couple of swings), and eating ice cream. I was expecting to skip her nap, but when we got home, Olivia begged me to put her down for a nap. All that fun was exhausting – she didn’t even want to hear a story! Olive gave her an awesome dress and this book, which has now become a bedtime staple – Olivia: Star of the Show.
  • Recognized a song that was playing on the beach in Santa Monica when she heard it in the car on the way home from school the next day! She said, “The beach sing that song” 🙂 It was “Rude” by Magic! and now she walks around the house singing, “Why you gotta be so woooode”
  • Said “I no like it, wanna put my monkey diaper on!” when I tried to put a pull-up on her. “I no like it” is one of her favorite phrases these days, and she’s surprising us constantly by using it in reference to things she used to like!
  • Went to see Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band in the park! We love their music, and anytime Olivia breaks out her dance moves is a great day!
  • Woke up in the middle of the night a couple of times crying really hard and asking for “one more story”. The first night, I caved, even though it was 1am. I quickly realized that it wasn’t sustainable, so the next time it happened, I told her she had to go back to bed but I would read her a story in the morning. It worked (for now)!
  • Went to see Jake and Sofia at Disney’s Pirate and Princess event at a nearby park. It was waaaay hot but I’m glad we braved it because Olivia can’t stop talking about it. And we can’t stop singing that “Pirate code, princess way” song!

Favorite quotes this week:

Me – “Can you take your shoes off please?” O – “No, I leave them on!”
Me (talking) O – “No talking, mama.”
O (speaking to herself while playing) “I pledge allegiance to the pie of America”
