Olivia at 24 Months: Week 105

We went on vacation this week, and celebrated Olivia’s second birthday at the lake with her cousins. We had some really nice moments, but the weather wasn’t great, and the long travel time (4 hour flight + 5 hour drive) was rough. On top of that, we all developed Hand, Foot and Mouth (probably from O’s daycare) on the last day. O was totally fine, save for a low fever and slight rash on the backs of her legs earlier in the week, but when the adults got it, we all had body aches, chills and fevers! And HFM is NOT pretty!

When we got home, we were all exhausted and so happy to be back. Unfortunately, Olivia refused to sleep or nap in her crib since we co-slept on vacation. She screamed like crazy at bedtime and tried to swing her leg over the side of the crib. I zipped through Elizabeth Pantley’s The No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers since her original book was so helpful when O was a baby, and I picked up a few tips. We’re still dealing with it, and I’m keeping a log of the process, which I’ll post here on the blog. It’s nuts that just last week, O would lie down in her crib and ask us to turn off the light so she could sleep! Now, she wakes up 1-3 times a night and the lack of sleep is making her act really grumpy and defiant. It’s all outweighed by her cuteness, though. The moment we get frustrated, she turns around and says something that melts our hearts.

This week, Olivia:

  • Said, “Mama, can we draw Thomas? We draw Thomas together.”
  • Called orange juice “green juice” because it was in a green cup.
  • Went on the slide with me and then wanted to go by herself, so she said, “Livy’s turn. Livy do it.”
  • Ate her first s’more!
